Principals

DAN SCHREINER - CEO,  Machine Works

During the 29 years in a wide range of roles at the various Canfor Pulp & Paper sites, Dan's scope of responsibilities ranged from Mechanical Draftsman to Shutdown Manager responsible for optimizing major shutdowns of $38 million per year.

As a member of the original maintenance improvement design team, Dan was also the Shutdown Optimization Leader. This resulted in the design and implementation of an entirely new shutdown management system. The team was successful in reducing costs and downtime by 25% as well as improving safety performance by 40%.

Having managed many large capital and maintenance projects with a team of project and maintenance engineers, Dan was instrumental in the development of Canfor's Capital Project Development Procedure that was able to significantly reduce project "churn" and increase project success.

As President of Cobalt Industries, Dan and the team have transitioned a range of traditional manufacturing firms into a fully integrated solutions-based company that specializes in meeting the long-term needs of our client partners.

 

PETER DAWLEY - President, Field Services

As well as being a Journeyman tradesman, Peter has extensive supervisory, training and management experience over the last 35 yrs in the pulp and paper industry provides a hands-on expertise that ensures conceptual solutions are implemented effectively.

Committed to a reliability centered maintenance philosophy that results in production increases, Peter is dedicated to getting the job done right the first time. His ability to lead, motivate and achieve results is a key component to his success.

Involved in "Mutual Gains or Needs based" contract negotiations over several years, Peter was instrumental in the design and development of the Flex Trade training program at Northwood. Applying his years of experience, Peter has consulted on the development of preventative maintenance routes and maintenance work procedures.

As a managing partner and owner Peter plays a critical role in ensuring that Cobalt is meeting the long term needs of our client partners.

 

SCOTT NORTHRUP - Division Manager

Scott has over 20 years of experience and is certified as a steel fabricator, welder, iron worker, millwright and CWB welding supervisor. As a Division Manager he is responsible for planning and estimating of costs on new projects and ensuring a good working relationship with our clients on a personal and professional level.
